Our company is seeking an experienced District Business Manager to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a background in the area of finance, with school finance being preferred.
The Business manager will be responsible developing and managing the budget through collaboration with our central office staff and district leadership.
Under general direction, to plan, organize, coordinate, manage, supervise and participate in the district purchasing functions and accounting and fiscal record management activities; to supervise, review, and evaluate the performance of accounting clerical personnel; to perform the more technical and specialized accounting and financial record reporting functions; to serve as a resource to district personnel; to serve as a liaison between the district and various commodity vendors; and to do other related work as required.
Duties of the Business Manager:
Plan, schedule, audit, supervise, and participate in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of accounting and financial record management reporting, including general and special ledgers for all district funds and special accounts.
Assist in the budget planning and preparation processes, including the formulation of budgetary formulas and the preparation of budget control guidelines and procedures.
Coordinate vendor payments to ensure that vendors receive payment for products and services on a timely basis.
Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of accounting personnel and assist them in determining alternative solutions concerning unusual and unforeseen problems and situations.
Develop or assist in the development of improved accounting and financial record management and reporting systems and procedures.
Prepare or coordinate the preparation of materials for posting or inputting into computer-assisted accounting programs.
Monitor and audit the accounting and financial record management and reporting functions to ensure that established operational procedures and guidelines are followed.
Prepare budget revisions in offsetting deficit accounts.
Perform the more technical and specialized accounting and financial record management and reporting functions.
Counsel, advise, and assist school and district personnel regarding matters relating to accounting and financial record management and reporting systems.
Prepare or coordinate the preparation of a variety of management related reports, including budget control reports, financial statements, investment, accounts payable and accounts receivable reports, payroll, food services, and a variety of other computer-assisted reports and records.
Maintain and supervise the property control records of fixed assets.
Prepare or supervise claims for reimbursement for special education, special projects, and pupil transportation.
Oversee all construction projects.
Performs financial and statistical research studies as required.
Coordinate, supervise, and participate in the preparation and maintenance of payroll record procedures.
Coordinate and maintain the Financial Agreements of transfer tuition students.
Supervise the district's cafeteria and textbook financial programs.
Plan, organize, and supervise the buying and related purchasing functions.
Plan, organize, develop, and implement procedures and guidelines relative to the warehousing and distribution of goods, supplies, materials, and equipment.
Review, monitor, and evaluate requisitions for supplies, materials, equipment and service to ensure that specification standards are observed.
Assist, counsel, and advise various district personnel in relationship to buying standards, commodity supply sources, purchasing and procurement timelines.
Assist Food Service obtaining quotations and data pertaining to the procurement of commodities and services.
Assist Food Service bid specifications for the procurement of large or unusual commodities and services.
Review and analyze bid data and prepare reports recommending selection and awarding of bids.
Organize, coordinate and direct the buying and purchasing follow-up activities to ensure prompt delivery, correction of vendor shortages and damages, and the maintenance of quality control procedures.
Plan, organize, establish, and maintain contract service files and records, vendor files, and a supply and commodity catalogue library.
Review, analyze and evaluate inventory control records to ensure that the storage facilities are appropriately stocked.
Plan, develop, and conduct personnel orientation.
Assist in the sale of used school buses and in the purchasing of new school buses, registration and insurance.
Coordinate, supervise and administer the school districts programs in:
health insurance, life insurance, long term disability insurance, unemployment insurance, workman's compensation, annuity participation, and Section 125 participation.
Assist in the preparations for bids on liability insurance auto insurance, building insurance, and workman's compensation insurance.
Assist and participate in teacher collective bargaining and in the discussion of classified employee salaries, fringe benefits, and working conditions.
Supervise the Technology Director, Facilities Manager, Assistant Facilities Manager, Transportation Director, Food Service Operations Manager and central office personnel.
Establish on an annual basis a corporation plan for building maintenance, grounds, and capital improvements.
Oversees al maintenance, custodian and food service employees.
Assists with transportation services during inclement weather as requested by the Superintendent.
Supervises the recruitment, selection, employment, assignment, and transfer of all non-instructional personnel of the school corporation.
Assist in preparation of all grant applications and review all expenditures from any grant fund.
Perform other tasks and assume other duties as assigned or delegated by the Superintendent.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
